I. Environmental Control

1. Temperature and Humidity: Maintain the farrowing house temperature between 20-24°C and humidity between 65% and 75% to ensure pig comfort.

2. Ventilation and Lighting: Ensure the ventilation system operates effectively to prevent the buildup of harmful gases like ammonia. Simultaneously, ensure lighting is sufficient and uniform to encourage pig activity and health.

3. Cleaning and Disinfection: Regularly remove manure and disinfect floors and rails to reduce the risk of disease transmission.

II. Feed and Water Management

1. Feed Management: Regularly check sow feed troughs to ensure feed is sufficient, fresh, and free from mold. Observe whether sows stand fully to eat and check their limbs and hooves for abrasions, swelling, or injuries.

2. Water Management: Ensure stable water pressure with a flow rate of 2 L/min to meet sows' water requirements and promote milk secretion.

III. Excretion Observation

1. Urine Observation: Assess the sow's urinary system health by preliminarily checking urine volume, color, and the presence of pus.

2. Feces Observation: Monitor the form, sheen, and texture of feces to reflect the health of the digestive system. Healthy feces should be dark brown, moderately firm, and have a sheen.

IV. Lactation Management

1. Piglet Suckling: Ensure each piglet gets sufficient milk, preventing weaker piglets from being marginalized due to competition. For sows with insufficient milk, consider supplemental feeding or using milk replacer.

2. Sow Lactation: Record the sow's milk let-down duration. Observe whether the sow's udders are full and check for signs of swelling, hardness, lumps, or inflammation. Healthy udders should be soft and elastic with smooth milk secretion.

V. Piglet Inspection

1. Limbs, Hooves, and Injuries: Check piglets' limbs and hooves for soundness, look for injuries, assess their mental state (whether alert), and check coat sheen. Pay particular attention to observing piglets for diarrhea symptoms; treat or isolate immediately upon discovery.

2. Weight Gain: Conduct regular weigh-ins to enable timely adjustments to feeding and management practices, ensuring healthy piglet growth.
